Global medical insurance customers visiting Romania this autumn should check out Bucharest's "fantastic mix of architecture" and "vibrant nightlight", the country's tourist board has suggested.
Maria Iordache, director of the Romanian National Tourist Office for UK and Ireland, said Bucharest is one of the up and coming city-break destinations.
"What I would suggest for people going to Bucharest is to look down the back streets and you'll find real architectural gems and local churches," she advised.
Other must-sees for expatriate health insurance policyholders and other visitors is the Village Museum, which is open air and features 300 homes from across the country along with people providing information about various crafts.
The Palace of Parliament could also be an attraction for some, as it is the second-largest such government building in the world and contains "treasures", Ms Iordache noted.
Her comments come as Wizz Air announced it will be significantly increasing its capacity in the Romanian capital, with plans to add to flights on some of its most popular routes in and out of the city.
