Expatriate Group and Covid

The following lays out the cover afforded by our International Healthcare Insurance and TravelCare insured products.

International Private Medical Insurance products (including Primary, PrimaryPLUS and Select policies).

Our iPMI (international health insurance) policies all cover you for the treatment of COVID-19. However, please note that the pre-existing medical exclusion (which does not apply to some company policies) would still apply and therefore an exacerbation of a pre-existing condition as a result of Covid would not be covered by your policy.

Please note that the policy doesn’t cover routine screening or testing.

Please note that your policy doesn’t cover the cost of COVID vaccinations or any subsequent booster.

Please note that your policy requires you to follow appropriate medical advice, including vaccinations and boosters.

TravelCare products

The TravelCare policy providing travel insurance for expats has now been endorsed to provide coverage for the treatment of Covid to customers who have followed all vaccination advice and who are travelling at least 2 weeks following the provision of the final dose of vaccination or any subsequent booster vaccination.

The endorsement reads:

COVID-19 Endorsement

This endorsement is to expand the benefit of the Emergency Medical Evacuation and Emergency and Accidental Medical Treatment sections of the policy, to provide cover for the treatment of Covid 19, for those persons who are fully vaccinated against Covid 19 (travelling for at least 2 weeks after receiving a completed course of vaccination(s) or medically recommended booster vaccination(s)).

This endorsement only covers vaccinations approved by the World Health Organisation and administered by a medical professional, where there is evidence of the vaccination(s) or booster vaccination(s) being administered.

This endorsement only applies to persons following all appropriate government medical advice in both your country of residence and any country you are visiting.

This endorsement only covers COVID-19 tests because of a request made by a medical professional due to appropriate symptoms being present. It does not cover tests performed as a pre-travel requirement or any routine screening.

Note that the pre-existing medical exclusion [see General Exclusion 1 of your policy wording] would still apply and therefore and exacerbation of a pre-existing condition as a result of Covid would not be covered by your policy.

This policy does not cover the cost of quarantine or self-isolation or any associated costs including, but not limited to, costs for prolonging your trip, subsistence, change of travel plans or loss of enjoyment.

This endorsement does not extend to the Cancellation and Curtailment Benefit Options.
