People move abroad for the 'lifestyle'

The chance to experience a new lifestyle is the main reason why people move abroad and become an expatriate, according to BuyAssociation.co.uk.

Paul Collins, property editor at the website, said that house prices and the cost of living were not the deciding factors that people think of when they consider moving abroad o join an expatriate community.

"People aren’t tending to buy for investment these days so the lifestyle aspect of things is really coming to the fore. People are much more interested in that," he said.

Mr Collins went on to say that Cyprus would become attractive to people who enjoy a leisurely lifestyle as 14 new golf courses and a theme park may be built in the country soon.

"Not only will it attract new people to the property market, it will attract more tourists as well," he added.

Private bank Cater Allen reported in September 2008 that over three million people were likely to purchase a foreign property within the next two years.
