A new eBook has been released by the website RetiringToThePhilippines.com as a way to help inform new expatriates about how business works in the country.
The Expat Guide to Doing Business in the Philippines was written by the site's founders Gary McMurrain and Steve Fleming based on the questions they have been asked over the years.
Releasing eBooks has always been part of the duo's masterplan to add to the information provided on the website.
Mr McMurrain said: "I know from the years that I've spent responding to questions from people interested in moving to the Philippines that this would make a great topic.
"It was obvious that there was a lot of false information out there and way too many people with their own agendas."
He added that many of the foreigners who have tried to start up businesses in the Philippines have failed and this leads to them telling people on forums that it's not possible.
The pair wished to debunk this theory and look at the issues that potential businesses may find when operating in the country and offer ways to overcome them.
Having been based in the Philippines for 27 years and established firms in the nation during that time, Mr McMurrain is coming from a position of experience.
The book references some of the companies that he has set up and still runs as examples, as well as others that expats have consulted him on while navigating the pitfalls of starting up in a new country.
It is hoped that this first eBook will be the first of many produced by the duo, each taking on a different aspect of life in the Philippines.
The website is a useful resource for anyone thinking of relocating to Southeast Asia and is organised into headings including: Living in the Philippines; Food & Drink; Health; and Economy.
