International Healthcare News: Obese advised to improve core strength

Expatriate health insurance customers who are looking to lose weight might want to heed the advice of one personal trainer.

Alan Gordon, a personal trainer and long-term expert in exercise, injury and nutrition, said that it is important for obese people to improve their core strength when embarking on a new fitness regime to lose weight.

There can be a number of risks involved in a fitness regime for people who are significantly overweight.

Ensuring that you have a medical plan in place can help to negotiate these risks by providing access to top quality healthcare professionals.

Mr Gordon commented: "The problem with people who are overweight is that to start with they will have poor core muscles.

"The top tip is that you need to strengthen your body first without a shadow of a doubt."

He added that this is the case even with gentle exercise like walking and urged people to "make sure that you get your core right".

Earlier this year, Imperial College London revealed that obesity has almost doubled in prevalence around the world since 1980.
