British expatriates living in China are finding it easier to sleep at night now that a savvy entrepreneur has started importing soft mattresses into the country.
While the Asian destination has a large number of major selling points, including excellent career prospects and a solid infrastructure for expats, relocating professionals have long complained of the local love of hard bedding.
Recognising this, American-Chinese businessman Spencer Jan has set up an enterprise importing soft mattresses, with his products being snapped up by expats living not just in Beijing and Shanghai but right across the country, China Daily reports.
Speaking to the paper, the entrepreneur, who set up his company SlumberMAXX three years ago, explains that, as well as being a way of tapping into a lucrative sector of the market, his firm also helps expats feel even more comfortable in China.
"I knew that SlumberMAAX was more than just a mattress company – it was a platform to welcome and help newcomers, as well as seasoned expats who had just landed in this foreign country to feel just a little bit more at home," he said.
