Expatriates lucky enough to be living in Dubai will be aware that the destination is famous for its amenities and world-class shopping, but what about its beaches?
In the latest list to be published by Lonely Planet on the best beach cities in the world, Dubai has come in at number eight, just behind Tel Aviv and ahead of Miami.
It is true that much of the coastline is owned by top-end hotels, but for a small fee most expats can spend a day lounging on the sand.
Lonely Planet suggests: "Make the most of sunny skies with a trip to the beach – favourites are Jumeirah and Palm Beach."
Meanwhile, last year Time Out magazine created a list of what it considers to be the top ten beaches in Dubai with Club Mina, Nasimi Beach and The Quay Club featured among them.
For those expats who forget to go to the beach as it is always there, they should remember that Dubai's beaches are the envy of the world and make the most of where they live.
