When moving abroad it is really important to have a sense of pride in the place that you live, but that can be particularly difficult when that location is literally Boring.
This is the case for some expatriates living in one US town, as it has been given this unfortunate name, but now residents are fighting back.
They are teaming up with Dull in Scotland and organising a Boring and Dull Day in which to celebrate the two places and try to attract more visitors. August 9th will therefore be the day in which all things mundane are celebrated.
Bill Kennener, a Republican representative, made the announcement, stating: "While some might be inclined to call this frivolous, the reality is that this attention is attracting tourism and commerce."
Details of the events to be held to mark Boring and Dull Day have not yet been announced, but it is thought that the annual Boring Conference may provide inspiration.
It was held in London in November and included talks on the subjects of toast, yellow lines and shop fronts.
