Homeowners considering a move to Sydney have been encouraged to rent for a few months before making a final decision to buy a home.
Expat advice portal Shelter Offshore explains that while many newcomers to Sydney will be tempted to look for properties right next to Bondi beach, doing so may not be the most practical or financially savvy option.
"Bondi is the classic destination for backpackers to end up in, but it’s expensive, so you might want to head along the coast a bit to Coogee, or even inland to the suburbs around Randwick to find a room where you get a bit more for your money," the site advised.
Meanwhile, the Telegraph has also this week offered advice to those weighing up which expat healthcare insurance policy to buy, explaining the first step is to decide on an adequate level of cover.
But while all policies can be described as basic, comprehensive or deluxe, the paper warns that there are significant differences in each provider's interpretations of these terms, making it important to shop around.
