What documents do I need to make a claim?
Having the right documents ready before you submit a claim to Expatriate Group helps avoid delays. The documents required depend on the type of claim, but most claims share a common core set of requirements.
Documents required for most claims
To conclude a claim, you will generally need:
- Proof of ID, such as a passport
- Proof of your address, such as a utility bill
- Any supporting medical reports or hospital discharge notices
- Invoices for any costs incurred
- Proof of your travel itinerary, such as plane tickets, travel booking confirmation, or hotel booking confirmation
Additional documents for lost or stolen goods
If your claim relates to lost or stolen belongings, further documentation is required:
- A copy of the police report
- Proof of ownership and the current value of the item
- If the item was lost or stolen while in the possession of a common carrier, such as an airline, a copy of the Property Irregularity Report and the carrier’s admission of liability, including any amount they paid you
How documents should be submitted
Expatriate Group accepts full-colour, high-resolution photographs or scans of your documents in support of a claim. It is important to retain the original documents, as these may be requested at a later stage of the claims process.
Why having documents ready matters
Submitting a complete set of documentation from the outset is one of the most effective ways to avoid back-and-forth delays. Claims that are missing key documents, such as invoices or proof of identity, are likely to take longer to process while the missing information is requested and provided.
If you are unsure which documents apply to your specific claim, the claims team can confirm exactly what is needed before you submit.
