How do I make a claim with Expatriate Group?

Making a claim with Expatriate Group depends on whether you have already paid for treatment or need approval before it goes ahead. There are two main routes, and using the right one ensures your claim is processed as smoothly as possible.

Understanding which route applies to your situation can help you avoid unnecessary delays or out-of-pocket costs.

How to make a claim

If you have paid for treatment yourself and want to recover the cost, claims are submitted through expatriate.claims, Expatriate Group’s online claims portal. This is the route to use for:

  • Outpatient treatment already paid for
  • Smaller medical expenses
  • Travel insurance claims for things like baggage, delays, or lost documents

You will need to register or log in to the portal and submit your claim along with the relevant supporting documents.

Getting pre-approval before treatment

If you need hospitalisation, or your treatment is likely to cost more than €1,000, you should contact the 24-hour emergency assistance line before treatment goes ahead, rather than paying and claiming afterwards. This allows Expatriate Group to pre-approve the claim, provide confirmation of approved costs directly to the treating facility, and reduce the risk of unexpected out-of-pocket expenses.

Pre-approval should be requested as soon as reasonably possible, and at least seven days before planned treatment where possible.
