Does Expatriate Group’s international health insurance cover pre-existing conditions for expatriates?

Expatriate Group does not cover pre-existing conditions under its international health insurance plans. A pre-existing medical condition is any condition that, in the two years before purchasing a policy, you received medical advice, treatment or medication for, including conditions that were symptomatic but not yet formally diagnosed. All new medical conditions that arise after your policy starts are covered from day one, with no waiting period for new conditions.

This definition applies to all policyholders and helps ensure clarity around what is and is not covered when a policy begins. It includes conditions that may not have been formally diagnosed but where symptoms were present or medical attention was sought within the specified timeframe.

Understanding how pre-existing conditions are defined is an important part of choosing international health insurance, particularly for expatriates planning long-term living or working abroad. If you are unsure whether a past or current medical condition may be considered pre-existing, reviewing the policy terms in detail or seeking guidance before purchasing cover can help avoid uncertainty later.
