5 Zoos Around the World That You Can Virtually Visit During Lockdown

The recent Covid-19 outbreak has interrupted everyone’s travel plans. Whether you were due to go on an overseas adventure or were looking forward to a luxury staycation, with flights cancelled and lockdown enforced there’s nowhere we can explore at this moment than that of our fridge.

But, even when you can’t go away, you can still play. Thanks to the digital world we now live in there are a number of fantastic zoos around the world that offer live streams of their animals so you can visit the lions and tigers while you stay in your PJs.

San Diego Zoo

Head over to the Pacific coast of California and explore San Diego Zoo via its incredible live cam footage. Thanks to the amazing global volunteers you can observe the many animals at the zoo from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m pacific time.

At San Diego, you can watch the baboons, penguins, polar bears, apes and so many more.

Take a look here.

Dublin Zoo

Wherever you are in the world you can catch a glimpse of the giraffes, zebras and rhinos, get a birds-eye view of the penguins and watch the herd of elephants munch on their lunch at Dublin Zoo.

Thanks to the high-quality webcams that the zoo has installed in the animal’s homes you can check in on the animals every day and pass some time whilst stuck inside.

Check out the elephant cam here.

Marwell Zoo

Check out what the animals at Marwell Zoo in Winchester are up to on their live webcams. If you have always wanted to know what flamingos do when no one’s watching or what goes on at the aquarium after hours then head to the virtual zoo here.

Edinburgh Zoo

Take a trip to the capital of Scotland to visit the pandas, penguins, tigers and koalas at Edinburgh Zoo.

The zoo, which is an 82-acre non-profit zoological park in Corstorphine, allows you to have an inside look at the animals via their live cameras. See if you can spot the tigers here.

Reid Park Zoo

Alternatively, you can head to Reid Park Zoo in Tuscon, Arizona and meet Semba the elephant and her newborn calf, spend some time with the grizzly bears or say hello to the friendly giraffes. Wherever in the world you are or wherever in the house you are, you can tune in and watch the animals from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
