More expatriates are expected to relocate abroad or visit Japan as the country's reputation for tourism grows, according to the Japan National Tourism Organisation.
Kylie Clark, senior PR and marketing manager for the agency, commented that while Tokyo is the main point of call for holidaymakers flying to Japan, "many people explore beyond" the capital.
"As Japan's reputation as a fantastic holiday destination grows, we are seeing increasing numbers of people explore further afield, including to Hiroshima to see the Peace Park, Hokkaido and Nagano for skiing and snowboarding and Okinawa is becoming popular for honeymooners after Japanese beach breaks," she explained.
Expatriate medical insurance policyholders might like to visit the Mount Fuji area and Kyoto, Japan's ancient capital city.
Ms Clark's comments come after a survey from ECA International revealed Japanese cities have become more expensive for expat health insurance customers and other visitors due to the strong yen.
