The rising profile of Korea may make the country a possible destination for potential expatriates considering relocating abroad.
Public relations manager for the Korea Tourism Organisation Ramy Salameh noted there are a number of major events taking place in the nation over the coming years, which are helping to increase awareness of the country around the world.
This August, the city of Daegu in the south-east will be hosting the World Athletics Championships, while the western region is the setting for the Korean Formula One Grand Prix.
"From the perspective of hosting major events Korea is excelling, so expect to hear plenty more in the world's media," he observed, adding the 2018 Winter Olympics could also be coming to Pyeongchang, with an announcement due next month regarding the host city for the competition.
Interest in Korea is strong among Britons, with figures from the Korea Tourism Organisation revealing visitor arrivals rose six per cent in 2010.
