Expatriates suffering from hearing loss may be able to receive a range of treatments with their international health insurance policies.
General practitioner and medical broadcaster Dr Hilary Jones highlighted the Lyric, a "lovely device", as an example of one of these innovations.
This tool is invisible but provides "clear, natural sound" in an effective way.
It is placed in the ear canal, so other people cannot see it, with some individuals calling the tool the "contact lens for the ear", the medical professional stated.
Some other hearing loss treatments referenced by the UK's National Health Service include cochlear implants, middle ear implants, digital hearing aids and sign language.
Dr Jones noted that there are a number of reasons why people begin to lose their hearing, suggesting that these generally involve a loss of the fine cells covering the inner ear's tissues.
"We find conversation difficult, we don't hear partners talking to us sometimes," he declared.
