Expatriate Medical Insurance News: Expectant mothers warned of health risks

Giving birth in a foreign country might be a nervous experience for anybody, so following the latest health tips can be a good idea.

The Department of Health has told how the new Start4Life advertisement will be shown alongside the premiere of the latest Hollywood blockbuster, What To Expect When You're Expecting.

Its aim will be to help mothers enjoy healthy pregnancies and give their child a solid footing on which to arrive in the world.

For those women who are living abroad, expat insurance could be just the ticket for ensuring a birth goes without a hitch and all the best medical help is available.

Dr Dawn Harper, Start4Life ambassador, GP and television presenter, said it is vital mothers look after both their health and that of their baby, adding: "The best way to do this is to stay a healthy weight, stop drinking or stay within the recommended guidelines and quit smoking."

Louise Whyte, founder of Penelope Fitstar and specialist in post-natal exercise and pregnancy, recently advised pregnant women to engage in safe exercises to keep healthy, such as jogging.
