Expatriate Insurance News: Italian property 'going to expats'

Expatriates from Holland, the US, Germany and Russia are accounting for the majority of overseas interest in Italian property.

This is according to Linda Travella of Casa Travella, an Italian estate agent that has been in operation for 24 years.

Ms Travella explained that some of the best Italian real estate is "being snapped up by non-British buyers", explaining that interest from UK buyers may have remained the same but they are not tending to make any purchases.

She noted that the Italian property market has not suffered in the same way as other European countries in the wake of the banking crisis.

As such, prices have not dropped too much and the market is not as competitive as in other countries.

Expatriate insurance customers, who have their health cover in place and are ready to move, were advised to as vendors are unlikely to keep accepting offers for long as conditions continue to improve.
