Expatriate medical insurance customers wanting to get into the Christmas spirit should head to Iceland, where the festive holiday is taken "extremely seriously", Visit Iceland has said.
Sigga Groa Thorarinsdottir, area manager of the UK and Ireland for the tourism board, said the cities all boast a festive atmosphere at this time of year.
"There is a great sense of Christmas spirit throughout the country making it an ideal place for a Christmas break and one of the hottest winter wonderlands," she advised.
Expat health insurance policyholders can wander through Christmas markets to buy handmade trinkets or take a trip outside urban areas to see the country at its most beautiful.
"Iceland's pristine nature takes on a completely new look in its winter coat; the mountains get a more majestic feel to them [and] the snow-covered land feels new," Ms Groa said.
The Aurora Borealis, otherwise known as the Northern Lights, also makes for a spectacular show, she added.
