Two expatriates living in Beijing have been named model workers in the healthcare industry, the China Daily reports.
French expat Luc Picard, a doctor at the Xuanwu Hospital Capital Medical University, and Japanese expatriate Aki Kishi, a senior consultant at the Beijing Tede Pharmaceutical Company, are among 1,241 Beijing workers who will receive the honour on Tuesday April 20th.
Each model worker will also receive at least 10,000 yuan (£950) for showing dedication and selflessness at their workplace.
Vice-president of the Beijing Municipal Federation of Trade Unions Huo Lianming told China Daily: "To select expatriates as model workers shows the openness of the capital.
"As an international city, we need to attract talent from all over the world and model workers are excellent representatives of them," he noted.
The model worker award is given out every five years and this is the first time expatriates will be honoured, the newspaper stated.
