Expatriate health insurance customers living in Mallorca might want to heed the advice of an expert and avoid restaurants that are flooded with tourists.
Anna Nicholas, an author and journalist based in Mallorca, advised people to "always go where the locals eat" and "if a restaurant is packed with tourists, avoid it like the plague".
She highlighted the "fantastically wide range of cuisine" available. For example, in the island's capital, Palma, you can access everything from "sophisticated fine dining in the old town through to small and authentic fish restaurants along the Paseo Maritimo and in Portixol".
People with overseas medical insurance may just have moved to the island or they may have established their expatriate lifestyle in Mallorca for a number of years.
Either way, discovering a new restaurant can often bring a refreshing change of scene.
