Expatriate Insurance News: Expats looking to 'safe areas' for property

Expatriates are tending to look are countries traditionally seen as safe areas when buying property abroad.

This is the view of Amanda Lamb, A Place in the Sun television presenter.

Ms Lamb said: "At the moment we're in a state of safety. For most people, we're going to stick to the countries that we know and love."

However, problems can still arise in countries people feel they know well and it pays to look into expatriate health insurance policies before you leave the safety net of a national health service.

Ms Lamb added that people are only just starting to look into the overseas property market again after the economic recession has caused doubts over the past few years.

"Everybody's been a little bit tentative, a little bit scared, but I think we are getting them back on the beat and the toe is being dipped back in the water," she remarked.
