People considering expatriating might want to look at houses in Florida to grab a bargain.
According to Les Calvert, director at Property-Abroad.com, distressed sales in the Miami area mean that there are a large number of properties available for very cheap prices.
He noted: "The first thing that springs to mind is the cost of properties over there at the moment, with the repossessions and distressed properties.
"We have advertised repossession condos in Florida from £12,500 that are minutes from Disney World."
Mr Calvert added that these sales go quite quickly, but there are a large number of repossessions and distressed properties available in Florida.
The comments come as the Miami Association of Realtors and the Southeast Florida Multiple Listing Service found that sales of existing condominiums in Miami in January 2011 increased by 134 per cent compared to January 2010.
