TV personality and boutique fashion store owner Brix Smith-Start has offered expatriates and other travellers looking to get away this summer some tips on packing light.
She advised women who find it impossible to pack a capsule wardrobe to check the weather for the destination they are heading to and pack accordingly.
‘You probably only need one set of warm clothes for a sunny holiday, just in case. Don’t bring things like thick heavy raincoats, bring a light disposable umbrella,’ she suggested.
Brix, who most recently appeared on Channel 4’s Gok’s Fashion Fix as Gok Wan’s rival stylist, also pointed out that travellers do not need to take all their shoes on a beach holiday.
A pair of flip-flops, some plimsolls and a pair of heels is all most women will need, she explained.
Brix’s comments come in light of a study by Thomson, which found a third of expats and holidaymakers do not use a quarter of what they take on holiday.
This could not only lead to back pain at the airport, but also causes the aircraft to use more fuel and subsequently release more carbon waste, the study pointed out.
