Expatriates might be interested to learn that the most expensive property locations in Europe have been identified by one estate agent.
Engel & Volkers published its global ranking list this month, revealing that a "unique location and an extreme lack of availability" tends to drive prices upwards.
Monaco, Sardinia and London were identified as offering the most expensive properties in the region.
Speaking to Overseas Property Professional, the chief executive of the estate agent Christian Volkers, said: "The highest prices are in those locations where extreme exclusivity meets a severe shortage of properties on the market."
He added that these areas usually offer "tiny parcels of land with just a few roads" and such they are in "such high demand that the level of interest cannot possibly be met, driving prices up to levels far beyond the average".
