Expatriate health insurance customers may want to travel to Malaga, as it has been described as a "real treasure" unknown to many individuals.
Antonio Montejo Romero, a spokesman for Malaga City Tourist Board and Convention Bureau, noted that a lot of people still believe the city is just the name of the airport.
He pointed out that a lot of travellers may say they have been there but very few have explored it properly.
It has a historical heritage dating back to Romans, with a restored amphitheatre which was built in the first century BC.
Further settlers in the area have included catholic kings and Jewish communities, along with many other ethnic groups.
Mr Romero added that there is a "14th century Arabian Castle and a 16th century cathedral", as well as Alcazabra, a fortress from the 700s that is a major landmark.
Rhinocarhire.com has also discovered it is one of the cheapest European destinations for vehicle rentals.
It is not "just the sand and beach destination", the expert concluded.
