How does international life insurance work?
International life insurance works by paying a cash lump sum to your nominated beneficiaries if you die during the policy term. You choose the sum assured (the amount your family will receive) and the length of time you want the cover to run, which with Expatriate Group can be anywhere from one to 30 years. Premiums are paid throughout the policy term and are guaranteed not to change from the date cover starts.
International life insurance designed for people living abroad
International life insurance follows you wherever you are based and rather than being tied to a single country of residence, it is structured to provide financial protection for expats and internationally mobile people whose circumstances may change over the course of a long policy term.
Cover is available to residents in 171 countries, and your premium and sum assured remain guaranteed for the full policy term regardless of where you relocate to, any changes to your occupation, or any changes in your lifestyle.
How a life insurance claim works
If you die during the policy term, your beneficiaries can make a claim. The sum assured is paid out as a lump sum, provided premiums have been maintained and the policy conditions are met. The money can then be used in any way, such as paying off a mortgage, covering living costs, funding education, or providing your family with financial security at a difficult time.
If you outlive the policy term, the cover ends. There is no cash value and no payment is made. International life insurance is a pure protection product, not a savings or investment vehicle.
