Halifax launches overseas savings account

Lender Halifax has launched a new offshore savings account, which could be of interest to British expatriates.

The Sterling Halifax International Bonus Saver could attract deposits from Brits who have moved abroad thanks to its monthly interest payments.

As well as an introductory rate bonus of one per cent, savers will enjoy a current interest rate of 3.04 per cent AER/gross.

According to James Gairdner, marketing and product director at Halifax International, the account gives savers a good return "whilst still providing the flexibility to withdraw or deposit at any time and therefore maintain complete control over their money".

Expatriates should find it simple to manage their account as it can easily be accessed online.

Brits moving to Europe should have no problem connecting to the web; the European Commission’s most recent report found 56 per cent of Europeans regularly use the internet and 80 per cent of these have high-speed connections.ADNFCR-1788-ID-19304208-ADNFCR
