The wide range of attractions on offer in Rio de Janeiro may make it an attractive destination for expat insurance holders looking to settle down in South America.
According to Marco Lomanto of Brazil's tourist board Embratur, the city is one of the nation's "main cultural centres" and home to numerous museums, parks, concert halls and art galleries.
"Cultural events such as the Carnival or New Year's Eve, the beaches and other natural attractions make the city internationally famous," he observed.
Rio's profile is set to raised further in 2014, as it is one of the 12 host cities for the FIFA World Cup and the country is also set to host the Olympics in 2016.
