Worldwide Medical Insurance News: Personalised medicine 'will continue to grow'

Expatriates may soon be able to receive innovative new treatments on international private medical insurance policies.

Personalized Medicine Coalition (PMC) president Edward Abrahams noted China has placed a "large emphasis on genomic medicine".

The Beijing Genomic Institute contains the highest number of sequencers on Earth, and these people are "throwing together numbers every day", indicating the country is making significant investments in this field, the expert noted.

Although personalised medicine is "still in its nascent stage", PMC research has shown 72 prominent examples of this kind of healthcare, he continued.

This is documented in a report, titled the Case for Personalized Medicine, which also notes modern technologies have brought us much closer than we used to be to "exquisite precision in disease diagnosis and treatment".

Mr Abrahams stated trends indicate these healthcare provisions are enduring an exponential increase and will continue on this path in the future.

A lot of this will depend on if medical providers and patients begin to become aware of the emerging field, he asserted.
