'Undernourished' UK employees may benefit from moving abroad
03/02/09 18:03
British workers could be leaving themselves severely undernourished and may benefit from moving abroad and becoming an expatriate.
That is according to research conducted by the natural health company BetterYou, which suggested that 35 per cent of the UK workforce is depriving their bodies of essential nutrients from excessive dieting.
In addition, the study found that only 19 per cent of Brits admitted to eating fruit and vegetables regularly, as these foods are either too expensive or not tasty enough.
Andrew Thomas, founder of BetterYou, believes many employees are ignorant about maintaining their general health and may benefit from a Mediterranean lifestyle, which is rich in olive oil, fruit and vegetables.
He said: "It seems we have become so obsessed with faddy diets and counting the calories we have forgotten how to properly nourish our bodies."
Research by the Lancet revealed that in 2005 British women had a life expectancy of 82.7 years while for French women it was 85.4 and for Italian females it was 85.3.
