'UK medical treatment littered with inconsistencies and exceptions'

Expatriates who return to the UK even for a short stay could find UK medical provisions lack the cover they need, says a leading comparison website.
According to Steve Williams, head of travel insurance at Confused.com, expats need to get themselves the correct information before returning.
Speaking to Emirates' publication, the National, Mr Williams said: "UK medical treatment for expats is littered with inconsistencies and exceptions, so any expat travelling to the UK should contact the Department of Health website for more information."
The paper has reported the case of Lizzy Miller, a British expatriate who has been resident in Dubai for five years.
According to the publication, Ms Millar was shocked to learn she no longer qualifies for NHS treatment on trips back to her home country.
"I had no idea I needed travel insurance for trips to the UK at all," the paper reported Ms Millar said.
The NHS provides country-by-country guidance to healthcare provisions through its Choices website.
