A women's health centre in Abu Dhabi has opened its doors early to mark International Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October.
The HealthPlus centre, originally due to open in November, aims to publicise the importance of screening and early detection by offering free clinical examinations throughout the month.
Majd Abu Zant, the private medical firm's chief executive, noted that an estimated one in eight women will develop breast cancer at some stage in their life.
"Early detection of breast cancer is vital to avoid potentially fatal prognoses. Our purpose is to educate women about breast cancer and encourage them to perform regular screenings," he added.
Located in Al Rowdah and developed by healthcare investment group UE Medical, the centre is the first of a network of twenty outpatient facilities set to open in the emirate.
The programme will include construction of the firm's flagship Danat Al Emarat Women and Children's Hospital project.
