UAE is a 'top expatriate location'

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has featured in the top three destinations where expatriates would most choose to live, according to a new survey.

Although many expatriates that have found themselves moving to the UAE are labourers, the survey, sponsored by the British bank HSBC, questioned 2,155 expatriates who were mainly white collar workers.

Overall, Singapore was crowned as the top expatriate destination in the survey, followed by the UAE in second and then the US, Belgium and Hong Kong.

The expatriate destinations were ranked according to their salaries, length of stay, the luxuries available and the quality of accommodation.

With the UAE offering a range of luxuries including swimming pools and private health clubs, it is unsurprising that the country fared best in the luxury category.

Paul Say, a spokesman for HSBC International, the bank's offshore wing, said: "The survey simply asks people who have moved, say, from the UK to the UAE, how this has had an impact on their lives.

"The survey is finding that people have more disposable income and that quality of life is much better."

Seven states make up the UAE including Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
