Travellers and expats will not have set baggage allowances

British expatriates who travel backwards and forwards to their expatriate homes will not benefit from a standardisation of baggage allowances.
Calls to make each airline operate the same policy have been rejected and the Travel Association ABTA says it is not a decision that is likely to happen soon.
Currently, passengers have a different set of instructions for each airline they fly with, something the executive chairman of the Air Operators Association, Ed Anderson told the Times could be simplified.
"It really would be much better if the rules on cabin baggage and weight allowances were standardised," he told the paper.
However, there are several good reasons why this will not happen says Susan Parsons, ABTA's manager of trade relations.
Ms Parsons explained that it is a commercial decision, which depends on the type of aircraft and the sort of traveler onboard.
"The bottom line ought to be that the traveller must check the exact baggage limit for the airline they are travelling with," she advised.
Ryanair sparked controversy recently after reports it was considering charging passengers to use its toilets.
