Spanish property still popular with expatriates

Demand for Spanish property from people in Britain and Ireland is still extremely strong, new research has indicated.

According to a survey conducted by Andalucian Dream Homes, a property company based in Marbella, many people are seeking homes in Spain as a way to supplement their pensions.

The research indicated that 74 per cent of respondents are interested in buying a Spanish property.

Spain has always been popular with expatriates and people looking for a holiday home but according to the firm's study 55 per cent of those questioned are going to wait until the pound is stronger against the euro before making a purchase.

Commenting on the findings, group marketing director Adam Godwin noted that while sales are slightly lower than they have been in recent years, signs for future sales are good.

He said: "Although actual sales on the Costa del Sol are down on previous years, the numbers registering an interest in Spanish property through our website show that desire and demand is returning."
