Singapore has retained its title as the number one city for expatriate insurance policyholders in Asia, according to a recent survey.

The annual study was conducted by London-based human resources consultancy firm ECA International, which ranked cities based on a variety of criteria.

These included climate, health services, housing and personal safety.

It found that expat insurance customers who move to Singapore would be likely to enjoy the highest quality of life in the region.

Lee Quane, Asian director of ECA International, commented: "Good infrastructure and health care facilities, low crime and health risks, and decent air quality contribute to Singapore providing the best quality of living."

Hong Kong dropped one place to fifth, while the Japanese cities Kobe, Yokohama and Tokyo occupied the second third and fourth spots.

ECA International's study found that expatriate insurance customers who would prefer to relocate to Europe should head to Copenhagen or Antwerp for the highest quality of life.
