'Rising profile' for Brazilian golf

Golf in Brazil is growing rapidly with new high-profile international tournaments and improved facilities for local players, says a travel expert.
Expatriate workers and retirees settling in the South American nation may be among those who can enjoy the benefits of a series of initiatives devised by Nick Faldo, the Brazilian Bureau of Golf and the Brazilian Tourist Board.
Glauco Chris Fuzinatto, director at the Brazilian Tourist Office for UK and Ireland, said the best courses are generally found around Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the state of Bahia.
He indicated that a "huge" investment in sport and infrastructure is also on the way, ahead of the Olympic Games in 2016 and the World Cup in 2014.
Mr Fuzinatto said he was still waiting for confirmation on whether golf is to be included in the Games, but maintained he had already seen a "huge" increase in numbers wanting to play on Brazilian courses.
