Review sites 'help business travellers save money'

People who need to travel frequently for work are increasingly turning to review sites to ensure they get the best value for money, says a travel company.
According to travel advice site TripAdvisor, the global recession is tightening travel budgets in all sectors.
Amelie Hurst, a spokesperson for the firm, said: "With many companies scrutinising their budgets more closely than ever, business travellers are increasingly turning to review sites to ensure they get the best value for money."
Whether flying for business or leisure, employees - who could include expatriate workers - "can't afford" for their trip to go wrong in the current climate, she noted.
Ms Hurst added that it is not just customers who are using review sites, explaining that hotel owners also log on to get valuable customer feedback.
"Hoteliers recognise that millions of consumers use reviews sites, many of whom could be prospective customers," she said.
Her comments are echoed by a recent report conducted by market research agency BDRC, which found that 28 per cent of business travellers seek advice on customer review sites.
