Qatar Health 2009 gets underway

Qatar has launched its first ever medical congress and exhibition at the Doha Exhibition Centre.
Qatar Health 2009, a five-day event which has attracted a host of big-name delegates and sponsors, has been organised to showcase the latest advancements made in medical technology and healthcare provision.
It is the first non-profit event of its kind held in the Gulf country and more than 50 international companies are exhibiting at the 15,000-square-metre facility.
If it proves as successful as organisers expect, Qatar Health will be expanded from a biennial to an annual event.
Among those sponsoring the event is Qatargas, a major employer in the country.
The company's chief operating officer for administration Ghanim Al-Kuwari, commented: "The event will promote Qatar internationally and we are proud to be part of it."
