Property price 'should not persuade' an expatriate
09/01/09 17:57
People should not let a decision about moving abroad to become an expatriate be made solely by the price of foreign property, according to TheMoveChannel.com.
Dan Johnson, director at the property portal, said that there are many factors that should be considered before becoming an expatriate and the price of a house should not be the main one.
"I wouldn't suggest that the price should be the overriding factor for making that kind of decision," he said.
Mr Johnson went on to say that foreign property markets are similar to each other in that they all offer different levels of affordability, depending on what a potential expatriate can stretch to.
"There are top parts of the market and there are bottom parts of the market and price isn't necessarily your primary concern," he added.
Cater Allen reported in September 2008 that over three million people were likely to purchase a foreign property within the next two years.
