Prince declares Saudi safety plan a 100% success

Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz, deputy emir of Riyadh, has declared that a five-year traffic plan devised to cut road accidents was a 100 per cent success.
The Prince, chairman of the Higher Committee for Traffic Safety, has launched a new initiative after his earlier scheme reduced crashes by 40 per cent.
"This does not mean we have reached perfection, but we have seen over the past five years a qualitative leap which every citizen should be proud of," the Saudi Gazette reported him as saying.
Despite feeling the pinch of the global financial crisis, the Middle East is set to continue to prosper in shipbuilding and repair, one expert suggests.
"The region is one of the busiest commercial maritime hubs with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Qatar having major ports and shipyards with more being built," says Christopher Hayman, chairman of marine experts Seatrade.
