Post Office: More Brits want Croatian money

07/05/09 20:27

Croatia is becoming more popular for Brits seeking to spend time abroad, says the Post Office.

Based on its transactions, the company can create a picture of which currencies are most in demand.

Sarah Munro, head of travel services, said people are increasingly looking for destinations outside of the eurozone.

"Croatia has been growing in popularity for some time now and in the early part of 2009 it is one of our fastest growing currencies – up eight per cent on the same period last year," she added.

According to national statistics, UK holidaymakers made a record 45.4 million holiday trips abroad in 2007, an increase of 56 per cent since 1997.

Spain remained the most popular holiday destination and visits to Poland were up by 719 per cent.

Holidaymakers who are inspired by their time in Croatia and hope to take up an expatriate life there should consider taking out international health insurance.
