Overseas Health insurance News: 'Budget options available in Paris'

While expatriate health insurance policyholders living in Paris might disagree, the capital city's tourism board has argued that the perception of the destination as expensive is incomplete.

Veronique Potelet Anty of the Paris Office du Tourisme et des Congres commented that a popular preconception of the French capital is of a "refined way of life", bringing images of luxury, fashion and intricately designed palaces.

While this representation is not false, it is incomplete, she said.

"The capital offers a wide range of solutions to stick to a low budget from accommodation to transport or visits," Ms Potelet Anty pointed out, adding that expatriate medical insurance customers and other travellers have plenty of low-cost entertainment options in Paris, such as free museum visits and concerts.

"The Parisian metro and bus system is affordable and enables people to visit the whole city easily," she added.

Her comments follow figures released by HotStats showing that Paris, London and Rome are among the most successful hotel markets in Europe with regard to total revenue made per available room.
