Overseas Health Insurance News: No more hep tests for expats in Dubai

Expatriate medical insurance policyholders relocating to Dubai will no longer be required to be tested for Hepatitis B and C as a condition of being granted a work visa.
The emirate state's Ministry of Health announced last week: "Tests for Hepatitis B will only apply to six specified professions. The government will scrap all mandatory testing for Hepatitis C."
Those who work with children, in the beauty and health club sector or who handle food as part of their employment are among the six categories that will not be exempt from the amended policy.
Previously, any expat looking for work in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was required to undergo testing of both strains of hepatitis, a blood disease which affects the liver.
However, health authorities will continue to insist that every prospective expatriate worker is tested for HIV and Aids. Any expat who tests positive for the immunity condition could face deportation.
Resident expatriates will no longer be subjected to medical tests save the HIV and Aids ones when renewing their visas.
