Mediterranean Union could bring together popular expatriate countries

The Mediterranean Union, a French-led initiative, could be coming together ready to benefit from European funding.
Countries that border the Med, such as Spain, Portugal and Italy are some of the most popular expatriate destinations for Brits moving abroad.
Under the gaze of this new league, money from the European Union (EU) could be used to help fight pollution, increase solar energy use, build new highways and fund education projects.
"We have seen again that we are closely linked, that the development of some cannot be done without the development of others," said French finance minister Christine Lagarde.
Within the EU Brits who move abroad are entitled to health cover provided they are carrying a European Health Insurance Card.
However, these do not always provide the same standard of cover expatriates would find at home and Brits abroad should investigate more comprehensive international medical insurance.
