Medical insurance news: International bank accounts essential for expatriates

24/11/09 18:15

Brits considering moving abroad for work or leisure should be sure to consider switching to an international account, Shelter Offshore states.

International accounts differ from domestic or onshore account in that it is not bound to one particular country and is accessible anywhere in the world, making it a near-essential item for Brits planning to emigrate.

Other things to consider when moving abroad could include expat healthcare policies, property laws and taxation, as well as other cultural considerations.

On this point, Shelter Offshore advises: "There are very real taxation-beneficial reasons to save and invest offshore if you're an expatriate in the majority of cases."

However, the expat advice portal also explained that tax conditions need to be examined on a case-by-case basis.

Shelter Offshore has also recently urged expats to consider expat healthcare options carefully before moving abroad, as access to medical care can differ greatly between countries.ADNFCR-1788-ID-19476594-ADNFCR
