Medical insurance news: Couple find dream home in the Peloponnese

Of all the exotic places Jim and Carol Baerselman visited in the five years they spent sailing the world, it was a secluded fishing hamlet in the Peloponnese that they eventually decided to call home.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the retired couple said it was the unspoilt ruggedness of Finicounda that attracted them and since settling in the area, they have relished its laid-back lifestyle and many sandy beaches.

"It's ideal for people who enjoy being somewhere foreign but who are also happy to be slightly out of their comfort zone," said Mr Baerselman.

However, he added that because the expat network is less strong than more familiar hotspots, a greater degree of self-sufficiency is needed.

For those who are considering venturing outside the UK to spend their retirement, researching expat medical insurance may prove invaluable. Shelter Offshore has also this week urged potential expats to check out international bank accounts to make sure their money is still working hard during retirement.ADNFCR-1788-ID-19476603-ADNFCR
