International medical insurance: Dubai 'should expand IVF offerings'
15/01/10 19:07
A healthcare professional in Dubai has argued that the emirate should extend its in-vitro fertilisation offerings.
Speaking to Arabian Business, chairman and founder of DM Healthcare Dr Azad Moopen argued that IVF treatments should be accessible on the private healthcare market in the emirate.
Currently, such treatment is only available at state-controlled hospitals.
"We would like to, if it was opened by the government, to go into areas like in-vitro fertilisation," he told the news provider, adding that the government should look at allowing access to such services in the private sector.
Another service that Dr Moopen would like to see on offer in the private sector is organ transplantation, the news provider notes.
He noted that the government currently wishes to have more control in this area, but suggested that it should check the accreditation and reputation of private establishments, allowing the best to offer such services.
Earlier this month, a number of industry observers predicted there would be high levels of growth in the GCC healthcare sector.
Individuals moving abroad should consider the benefits and peace of mind that international health insurance can bring before heading to their new country.
