16/08/10 18:38
The Thai wife of an expatriate has been arrested in connection with his murder.
Bunnag Hyde, 38, was last week charged, along with her lover, with conspiracy to murder 68-year-old British expatriate Raymond Hyde, who had terminal throat cancer.
Mrs Hyde's brother is on the run and is believed to have carried out the murder, which saw Mr Hyde beaten to death in his home in Hua Hin in Thailand last month.
Police commander Vichien Tantawiriat said that Mrs Hyde had claimed her husband beat her and was verbally abusive.
"But we do not believe her story as he was terminally ill. We believe the only motive was to get his cash quicker," he added.
The news comes after local newspaper Phuket Wan reported that police are hunting an English expatriate in connection with the murder of an American expat, who was stabbed to death in a bar brawl in Phuket.
The wanted man, known only as Mr Lee, has a tattoo saying Muay Thai on his right thigh and was last seen riding a Honda Click motorcycle.
